BODY WOODS:
The standard Swan body consists of a chambered swamp ash back with a solid center block and quarter inch thick swamp ash inch top. This combination produces an extremely resonant body with a crisp low end and rich high end overtones.
Tops are also available in a wide variety of alternate woods. In addition to changing the appearance of the body, different woods will also change some of the tonal characteristics of the body.
Our favorite top woods (other than ash) are maple, walnut, redwod, bubinga, and Bolivian rosewood.
NECK WOODS:
Our necks are all made from maple with a variety of fingerboards options. The six-string neck are usually made from a single piece of flat sawn maple. The 7-string neck is made using a three ply laminate for additional stiffness.
Fingerboard options for the 6-string include pau ferro, maple, and ebony. The standard fingerboard for a 7-string is cocobolo.
