A SWAN FOR THE GLOBAL FOOD CRISIS

It has always been my belief that with success comes the opportunity and obligation to help those who are in desperate need. In the past, we have raffled off our guitars to raise money for the Tsunami relief efforts and more recently to help the rebuild the Gulf Coast after the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.

Now, with much of the world facing a growing food crisis, I decided that it was time for us to step up once again.  We raffled off one of our guitars with 100% of the proceeds going to Mercy Corps specifically for their program for the Global Food Crisis.
As a result of the generosity and caring of the guitar community, we were able to donate $4824.89.

The winner of the guitar was Daniel Lange of New York.

I chose Mercy Corps for several reasons. In addition to addressing immediate needs in food aid, they also invest in long term solutions for local agriculture and economies so that communities can ultimately feed themselves. They have a long term record of success. They have a very low overhead with almost 90% of the money they receive going directly to their aid efforts.
