When I designed the Swan long neck guitar, my intention was to build an instrument that was ideally suited to my own style of playing. What I wanted was a guitar with maximum articulation, a warm clean tone, and a strong acoustic component. While we succeed at producing exactly that, the Swan also turned out to be a tremendously versatile guitar. The superb articulation that makes it an ideal instrument for a jazz player, makes it an equally powerful tool for playing rock or even country, both in standard tuning, open tuning, and even tuned down as a baritone.
The most obvious tonal characteristic of the Swan is its clarity and articulation. Regardless of whether you're playing clean or distorted, the individual notes seem to jump off the fingerboard. But talk is cheap. The real proof is in the playing. So here are some clips by a few players (including me) so you can hear it for yourself.

SCOTT LERNER - ONE GROOVE, MANY TONES
In an effort to show the full tonal range of the Swan, we handed one of our guitars to Scott Lerner, who is quickly rising to the Gatton-esque level of "the best guitar player you've never heard of". Scott laid down one straight forward rhythm groove both bridge and neck humbuckers with the coils tapped. He then cut several solos using radically different tonal settings.
JERE MENDELSOHN* - TWANG MASTER
Given its clarity and sparkling high end, We've always thought that in the right hands, the Swan would be a great guitar for country twang. With Jere Mendelsohn, an emerging Twang Master from LA, providing the hands, the Swan proved us right.
Using a Swan equipped with single coil Vintage Vibe blades, Jere recorded a series of classic country and rockabilly licks, repeating each lick in all three pickup positions.

JIM SOLOWAY - CLEAN, CLEANER, CLEANEST
The founder of the company and designer of the Swan Long Neck Guitars, Jim Soloway has tone that ranges from "very clean" all the way to "a lot cleaner than that". On both 6-string and 7-string, his tone is bell like and reminiscent of a piano as much as a guitar.

John Stowell is a remarkably creative and imaginative jazz guitarist. His playing is harmonically complex and piano-like and his unique technique allows him to play intervals that are normally beyond the reach of most guitarists. His ability to play his extended chord voicings on the Swan was a testament to the functionality of the 27 inch scale length.
Using a Swan with a rosewood top and a pair of TV Jones TV'tron pickups, John tuned the guitar down two full tones, hit the record button, and played over three minutes of glorious improvisational baritone jazz guitar.
