As of 02/22/2017...

I often get e-mails asking me about various aspects of my gear, so here's a complete run down.  If I've missed something you want to know about, feel free to email me.   I'm always happy to talk gear.

GUITARS: As usual I've gone through a lot of changes in the last year or two.  I still have my old blue Soloway Gosling but most of my playing time goes to a pair of Godin 5th Avenue archtops (a Kingpin II and a Composer).  I also have a Godin Montreal Premiere coming soon that I have very high hope for (more on that after it arrives in a few weeks).

TUNING:  Most of my guitars are tuned down from standard pitch.  After a lot of experimenting, I've settled on D-standard (D,G,C,F,A,D)  and C# standard (C#,F#,B,E,G#,C#) with standard reserved just for teaching and tutorials.

STRINGS: I use  Thomastik Infeld Swing Series flat wound 12's with a .53 for the low D or C# on my main guitars.

AMPLIFICATION:  After several years of running a digital modeling rig, I have  returned to playing through a conventional amp, experimenting with all sorts of alternatives, convincing my wife that I will be changing my amp like my shoes forever.  I've finally settled on Gallien Krueger MB200 amplifiers and Earcandy speaker cabinets.  I have two of the Earcandy cabs: a 1x10 Ethan (with an Eminence Lil' Buddy speaker) and a 1x8 Mr Watts (with an Eminence Beta8-A speaker).   These rigs are giving me the most natural sound I've ever experienced.   I recently added a Sennheiser 421 microphone for reording these rigs and it sounds great.

EFFECTS / PEDALS: My only effects device are a Boss TR-2 tremolo pedal and a HardWire RV-7 reverb pedal.
